Escrow Fees

When you buy or sell your home, or refinance the loan on it, the transaction is handled by an escrow company that is rarely if ever chosen by the home owner or buyer. Escrow companies sometimes charge fees that are impermissible, or wrongfully mark up charges above their actual cost. These fees are often revealed at closing, when you are required to go to the escrow office and sign a multitude of documents. While most of the fees are proper, our firm analyzes closing documents for clients to ensure you have not been overcharged. Examples of questionable fees include charges for “reconveyance tracking”, charging to record documents in excess of what is paid to the county of recordation, or marking up charges for UPS or other delivery of documents.
